While I was away…

Dear Tumblr friends, I’ve been away.  I do apologize…  Life ate me for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a while there.

The following things have been going on:

  • Little Vélo was super sick.  Oh no!  There was an operation, tubes, medication and quite a bit of nursing involved.  There was also a vet bill that could’ve been a pair of Manolos, but I’d rather have the furry guy any ol’ day.  He’s back to his normal, cream drinking, feather catching self.
  • This past weekend at Lucky Strike on the Beach, I bowled a 166 and beat The Man two games in a row.  Best Bowling Ever.
  • I went rug shopping and refrained from Big Lebowski references. It was difficult…
  • The garden is doing just ok.  Some of the tomatoes have flat out given up on this life, and others are just fine and dandy.  The Man and I don’t quite get it, but we’re thinking of trying to do a summer set up, which would include some shade fabric so we don’t fry the plants.  Miami summers are always scorchers…
  • Life in general has been good.  Lots of friends, music, parties, food, hugs: all the good things.

And now, back to the Hunt…

GPOY Wednesday.
Incredibooth on a sunny afternoon with a glass of wine can be dangerous.  I don’t know how, but in this photo only, one eye photographed blue, the other green/brown.  Kate Bosworth I am not, but it does make for a second look…

There’s no place like…

Home.  Technically I’m back home.  But truthfully I get confused about what and where home is.  Is it where your heart is?  I feel like different parts of my heart resides in different places, so it can’t be so cut and dried.  And it can’t be as simple as where I lay my head. Can it?

If we are talking about a place where I am surrounded by like minds and feel comforted, then Portland is home.  If it is where I live with my husband, furry children and tend to my banana trees, then it is Miami.

Where would you end up if you clicked your heels three times á la Dorthy?

Photo: Me, trying on Elena shoes, at the Kate Spade in downtown Portland.  Of course they didn’t have them in black, but pink is rather happy, no?

GPOYW - L.A. Style.  Totally posed.  Totally fun.  Take me to L.A. any ol’ day…
P.S.  That Schwinn has the most bad ass banana seat you could ever hope to see: red and white striped with sparkles.

I am missing my friend Nan and that golden California light.
I am loving my hair straight and my new vintage sunnies.

(more vacation pictures to come and back to regular posting next week)

Vacation album… (part two)

The goal?  To be as big as beach bums as possible.  I think we succeeded…

Sunday Drive…

The weather was just too gorgeous: so we hopped into the convertible and drove south.

Dappled sunlight through the trees on Old Cutler Drive in South Miami…

The sun on our faces and me in my granny visor…

Burr’s Berry Farm out in the middle of the farmlands…

Fields of ripe, red berries…

Take home includes: Strawberries, tomatoes, eggplant and leeks…

They also had avocados and home-made relishes and jams…

Last minute we took home some tangerines and

a strawberry plant to have and to hold.

I do love Sundays…
