Chaussures de la semaine…

Love at first sight.  Easy sea colors grounded by cocoa leather are eye catching, plus, I’m a sucker for satin during the day.  Why should all that beautiful fabric sit in a shoe box and wait until dark to come out?

But the cherry on top: they are called Nola, my mother’s name.  Sentimentality will always win…

Chaussures* de la semaine…

I walked past, saw, swooned and pined for a month straight after that.  I finally broke down, tried them on and they were beyond comfortable.  So I purchased.  The best surprise of all appeared at the cashwrap:  on sale!

It just warms a gals heart…

Chaussures de la semaine…

Last week I wrote about needing some sparkle, a visual lift.  This week, I was in a pinch - literally.  I wore new heels to work (gorgeous peep-toe cut-out oxford wedge in anthracite - oh my!) and didn’t bring a spare pair.  How silly can I be?  Pretty darn silly.

By the time I got in, my feet were hurting.  By mid morning, I was barefoot, running around back-of-house where no one could see me.  By lunch, I went shopping.

Steve Madden was the closest store and I hobbled on in.  After trying on a bevy of flat beauties, I decided on these.  No sparkles or spikes need apply, please.  It’s fall: I need cognac.

I wore them out and they turned my outfit upside down.  Yes, all black (black crops with a black/cream tribal print kimono top and a kate bib necklace) with the preppy cognac pop.

They have not left my feet and I plan on wearing them into the ground…

Chaussures de la semaine…

I am in a mood as of late.  Not a fowl mood or anything, but just a mood.  I need some whimsy in my life.  Some sparkle.  Some dash.  (No, not that DASH)

I’m a big devotee of “create your own”.  Not like some DIY thing, but more like create your own energy, motion, love.  But I just can’t seem to get the ball rolling.  No sparks flying, no glittery grinning ear to ear moments. I’m just a big ball of blah…

Temporary, I hope.

In the mean time,  sparkly loafers will have to do.  One cannot mope with this much glitter around their toes…

Chaussures de la semaine…

Call me crazy: But I love these shoes.  Is it the multi colored suede?  Is is that tall chunky heel?  Is it those tiny purple grommets, or maybe the fact they can worn with or without laces?  All I know is I’m smitten.

They are begging to be paired with an all black outfit (with the darkest of tights) or the most perfectly hemmed trousers, so it looks like your colorful toes are floating across the pavement.

Fall forward…

Me… (or Chaussures de la semaine)

You know how shoes have names? Sometimes they are weird ones, like K-BR-125, Vonna, or Coco.  Sometimes they are girl’s names, like Brennan, or Elizabeth or Cassie.  But if you are really really lucky, sometimes someone puts out a shoe with your name!  Even better if it’s a brand you like and a style you like…

Ladies and Gentlemen, please meet Elena.  She is a red patent leather mary jane flat from kate spade.  I would wear her with jeans and a cute top and call it a day.

Hi Elena.  I’m Elena too.  It’s nice to meet you.

My Two Obsessions:

Kittens and shoes.  I’m good in the kitten department, but I can always use more shoes.  I just ordered these bad boys…we’ll see if they’re all they are cracked up to be.

The shape is kind-of Stubbs and Wootten-ish, but this one’s obviously more of a wild child…
