If I could make one excuse for not posting at all anymore, it would be this:  I started tomatoes from seed this year*.  I had over 200 seedlings (by accident!) and gave away all but 35.  A friend gave us some extra plants, so now we have a total of 40.  It seems that between work and play, I’m alway gardening.  They always need something; watering, staking, pruning and soon… picking!

*BTW, lame excuse.

Garden update:
This morning I was head down, clogs muddy, getting rained on, in the garden.  It seemed the perfect time to pull weeds.  It is my goal this season to pull a minimum of one weed a day.  Just touch the garden, be in the garden, daily. That way, I am not overwhelmed by a garden full of fruit, vegetables and weeds.
The bonus to my rain drizzled diligence was this: On the back side of a plant, completely hidden, I saw two baby tomatoes.  Sun warmed tomato salad can’t be that far off…

Casa update…

The garden is growing beautifully. The plants have settled in nicely and the soil has taken on Goldie-locks mantra: “just right” (not too wet, not too dry and good soil test kit results).  The tomatoes are doing a-ok and I cannot wait for red ripe tomatoes still warm from the sun.  Few things are better than that, my friends…

Vélo, my lost and found kitten, has settled in  wonderfully.  He’s very playful, furry and purry, just like any kitten should be.  He does have some eccentricities though…

He likes cilantro, raw onions and arugula.  How do I know this? Yesterday was pick up day from our organic veggie co-op and he was all over those veggies like a cat on catnip.

The weekend…

The Flaming Lips are on my to-do list tomorrow.  I’m kind-of stoked, to be honest:  I hope I get to see some flame throwing, bubble walking goodness.  Then on Sunday I will do some back-breaking work whipping the veggie garden into shape for seedlings. Such is the life of a music-loving gardener…

Life is good people, life is good.

I have been burning the candle on both ends.  Working all day and gardening all evening can make a girl very tired, but I do have some visual fruit for all my labor: my new Blue Girl Rose.  I hope she lasts through the hot Miami summer so I can see her pretty blooms through my kitchen window…
