April is strangely gracing us with cool weather.  The morning and evening are particularly delicious, afternoons perfect beach weather.  The pink frangipani (plumeria) is trying to bloom and I just can’t get rid of those spider webs in the front yard.
It would be mean to the spider.

The coffee is gone. Windows are open, cool air and sunlight pour through them. The cats sleep - after a long night outside - cozy on the new shag.  Pet Sounds plays on the turntable.

Monday Recap…

This weekend was the kind of weekend that takes the stuffing out of you.  Road-trippin’, dock diving, sun lounging, thigh burning, silly photo taking, white wine on ice drinking and general merriment making can make a girl really tired.  Also throw in cooking breakfast for 20+ people while hungover.  Now that’s a feat…

The Man’s family all went to Summerland Key (about 20 miles outside of Key West) to celebrate his parents 50th wedding anniversary.  Let’s just all ponder 50 years spent with someone you love…

It was a wonderful, wonderful weekend.

Afternoon in pictures…

The newest member of our deck plant family: a prickly pear.  It’s almost like sculpture.  It’s also slightly anthropomorphic: I want to name him Bob for some reason.

A two year old amaryllis bulb bloomed this spring.  I almost threw it out this past winter.  I’m so glad I didn’t.

Bromiliads, a wayward fern and geranium.

Our little Buddha faces east (as one should) and gets beat by the sun every day.  I don’t think he cares.

I got talked into starting a photography blog.
Nothing fancy: just photos with titles, places and dates (if I remember them).  Right now I’m posting oldie but goodies (i.e. things you might have already seen here), but in the future I hope to post as I go.  Killer sunsets will appear, maybe people pics or even a self portrait or two.  I’ll be having fun…
Come join me.

ps. fun note: I tried to reblog myself to start this post, but tumblr doesn’t quite work that way.  (thank goodness!)

Sun rise, sun set…

And so the days go.  Christmas passed in a flash.  So did New Years.  In the past month, I worked, vacationed, worked some more, celebrated, played and worked a lot more.  (and barely blogged)

I am so glad for the fresh start.  January always feels clean.  I don’t do resolutions.  I’m more of the “try to do better” camp.  Every day.

Sun rises, try to do better.  Sun sets, try to do better.  I can’t ask for anything more…

A necessary Weekend…

Friends, Romans, Countrymen: Today is Friday.  Thank goodness.

I won’t go into particulars, but things are kinda crazy right now.  Through some wonderful fluke in the universe, I am going to Key West for two whole days, smack dab in the middle of black out (a nasty retail term) and I am going to enjoy every single day.

I will commune with bicycles rides and beer.  I will revel in each sunset and savor each conch fritter.  I will wrinkle my linen pants and not care.  I will not get sunburned by wearing huge floppy hats.

I will live/love every single minute.

I hope your weekend is equally as wonderful.

Cheers,

Elena

P.S. I just might post some photos.  Be on the lookout…
