Day 19 — A talent of yours
Well, I sing. Jazz. I love Ella, Billie, Dinah, and I’m probably forgetting someone here, but I do love to sing jazz along with the girls. I don’t do it enough in public, which is down-right shameful (to paraphrase a good many friends of mine).
It’s actually how I met my husband. Here’s the story: I was at a birthday party of an artist friend of mine, and there was this great little band playing. About half-way through the night they asked if anyone could sing. I half-raised my hand in the air and a friend of mine propped it up further.
We played a couple of tunes together and it was nice. Really nice to not sing to a CD, you know? I met all the band members, and my future husband to-be questioned me about my musical taste (mostly about whether I knew of the Grateful Dead or Phish) and then we all exchanged numbers.
One week later, the band voted to see if I could join them. My future husband-to-be voted no. He was out-numbered.
Lucky me. Lucky him.
Life is good…
